Middle East Technical University (METU) promotes water conservation, responsible water use, and sustainable water management among communities beyond its campus. Through public science communication initiatives, including the ODTÜ İklim podcast series, the University shares information and expert perspectives on water-related challenges and sustainable solutions with the wider public.

The outreach topics include the impacts of climate change on freshwater resources, the protection of water quality, wastewater reuse, circular water management, and approaches to improving agricultural water efficiency, such as good agricultural practices and precision irrigation. METU also communicates its water-related research and technological approaches, including digital twin applications and regional water management strategies, to increase public understanding of water conservation.

Through these public engagement and knowledge-sharing activities, METU contributes to raising awareness of water-related environmental challenges and encouraging more responsible water-use practices beyond the University campus.
