Middle East Technical University (METU) implements a comprehensive and sustainable water supply and treatment framework. Leveraging treated water resources derived from Lake Eymir, the university systematically processes and supplies treated water to meet its operational and campus requirements, overseen by the Department of Construction and Technical Works (YİTDB).
1. Water Treatment & Integration Framework
- Lake Eymir Treatment Process: Raw water extracted from Lake Eymir undergoes advanced purification and treatment processes within METU’s dedicated water treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with environmental and operational standards.
- Meeting Campus Water Demands: The treated water output is integrated directly into the campus water distribution network, fulfilling the university’s structural water requirements through sustainable circular resource management.
- Automated & Volumetric Tracking: The treatment and distribution cycles are continuously tracked via automated telemetry and SCADA systems, ensuring strict quality and quantity control.
2. Annual Water Production & Treatment Data (2019–2025)
Total annual volume of water treated and produced through METU’s treatment infrastructure is recorded as follows (metric tons): 37,503 in 2019, 34,949 in 2020, 23,690 in 2021, 40,878 in 2022, 29,806 in 2023, 41,848 in 2024, and 36,086 in 2025.
