10.6.5. University diversity officer

METU has offices and committees, set up by its Senate and administration, that advise on and implement policies, programmes and training on diversity, equity, inclusion and human rights. These fulfill the function of a University Diversity Office.

Disability Support Office (Engelsiz ODTÜ)

Established on 28 June 2011 by METU Senate decision 2011/5-2, building on the Disability Support Coordination Unit founded in 2004. It ensures equal access to resources and services for students with disabilities, and every department has a designated disability adviser.

Gender Equality Support and Sexual Harassment Prevention Unit (CİTÖB)

Established under the METU Gender Equality Principles and Strategies Document and Commission Directive (Senate decisions 2016/4-5 and 2016/4-6). It promotes gender equality and equal representation, provides training, and handles complaints of gender-based discrimination and harassment.

Sustainable Campus Executive Committee

An interdisciplinary committee of METU researchers that drafts and revises METU's sustainability policies, including its Academic Freedom, Integrity, Inclusiveness and Equality Policy.

Gender Equality Committees at METU research centres

• METU-GÜNAM has had a Gender Equality Committee since December 2021. It includes representatives of management, research leadership, human resources and project management, compiles gender data every December, reports progress to the Board of Directors and updates the centre's Gender Equality Plan (METU-GÜNAM Gender Equality Plan, December 2025).

• The METU-MEMS Centre's Gender Equality Committee, appointed by its Board, coordinates the Centre's Gender Equality Plan, collects suggestions and complaints from staff and passes them to senior management. Chaired by the Human Resources Manager, it has five members and meets at least twice a year (METU-MEMS Gender Equality Plan PL-009, 30 June 2025).
