14.5.3. Programmes towards good aquatic stewardship practices

In 2025, METU ran ongoing programmes that encourage good stewardship of water and aquatic ecosystems.

Kaynak ODTÜ (2025, ongoing)

Kaynak ODTÜ treats water from Lake Eymir and provides it free at dispensers across the campus. By replacing plastic bottles and linking the campus's drinking water to the health of Lake Eymir, the programme encourages students and staff to value and protect the lake.

Sea and Climate School (ongoing)

A regular programme by METU CLIMATE and the Institute of Marine Sciences with Mersin Metropolitan Municipality that teaches children marine conservation practices, including METU's annual sea turtle monitoring.
