Climate risks to coastal cultural heritage: workshop in Mardin (30.05.2025)

As part of the 'Strengthening Climate Adaptation Action in Türkiye' project of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change and UNDP, METU CLIMATE spoke at a cultural-heritage workshop in Mardin, one of the project's awareness-raising conferences. The talk explained how sea-level rise threatens cultural heritage sites on the coast, many of which are visited by tourists, and how their vulnerability can be assessed at national and local level; METU then took part in focus meetings with participants to share this knowledge.

Visitor management for Lake Eymir and the campus

Lake Eymir and the METU campus are used by many visitors, and EKOSAM's METU Carrying Capacity Project is developing a visitor management plan for them based on biodiversity, and includes information boards, signposting, small points introducing local species, QR-code information and feedback tools, so that visitors learn how to use the area without harming it.
